Being stylish is not about buying expensive clothes but it’s
about knowing what fits you coupled with your personality and style identity. Just
before you go shopping, it’s important to know what style personality you have or
you might end up buying unsuitable pieces. At a point I was confused about
my style personality too, so not to worry just follow these simple tips and you
would be surprised at how it helps.
Fashion and style magazines, catalogues, newspapers, or pictures from events are a good way to start. Just note stylish individuals that appeal to you from all this source either celebrities or random style Icons. This was really easy for me because I am an addict of fashion magazines like complete fashion, Genevieve, in style and others.
WHAT TO DO: gather up style magazines and other sources and
rip out pages you find stylish individuals and their outfits. Sometimes when I watch
a movie and I love one of the actor’s looks, I will use my VLC screen shot to take
pictures of the outfit and with that I created an album also an my PC (you
could try that too).
Also, check for everyday looks and ignore red-carpet
or runway looks (most runway looks are not suitable for everyday looks they are
mostly exhibited by stylist).
After making an album or a collage of ripped pages and images, compare your album with what you have in your wardrobe. It won’t be fair enough to go shopping every time because you want to dress like someone but you could make do with what you have in your wardrobe. Your wardrobe is an expression of what you like and what style personality you are, with pieces in your wardrobe it answers the question of your personality; if you are the jeans and top type, or a co-operate individual who hardly wears jeans even on weekends or one who loves and embrace the street style whatever style personality you have your wardrobe answers it with pieces you wear most. Any clothing item you hardly wear or you have never worn is not just for you so eliminate them because you might never wear them. For me my wardrobe has a good number of high waist pants and tailored skirts with few jeans and tops. My shirts and mostly made of chiffon and the only all-stars snickers I have is just a magnet for dust J
3. STICK TO YOUR DISCOVERED STYLE
Well this isn’t as easy as it sounds but come to think of it
most fashionistas always have a defined fashion statement. With this you could
easily define your looks and looks you won’t be caught dead in.
4. FINALLY, CREATE A SIGNATURE LOOK
Signature looks are very essential for stylish individuals, it gives distinct and unique looks that defines you. Just as joy ofjoylovesfashion.com joylovesfashion.c always wear a turban and folake of www.stylepantry.com is known for her curly hairstyles, the list goes on and on. Its all about choosing what you would be known for in style and what makes you confident.
Above all, remember that one day it won’t be about the
clothes you wear but also about intelligence, self confidence, posture, carriage and good brains. Dressing good wont open all doors for you but it would also give you an hedge and keep you confident in anywhere you go. Also remember trendy isn't classy. Do have a blessed week. Bye for now.
TRENDILY YOUR'S
