BLOGGERS DIARY: ESTHER OF HOUSE OF SIENNA

"Successful people are always looking for a way to help others, Unsuccessful people are always asking 'What's in it for me"- Brian tracy.

Hello beautiful people,

When I started blogging newly, it was quite difficult for me to meet other bloggers and really find tips about blogging. I found some online and with few prsonal experiences. So I thought to myself 'why can't I help other upcoming bloggers of this stress?'. If you are just viewing this blog for the first time bloggers diary is a post on interviews with bloggers where they share tips on styling, blogging and so on. I don't want to be selfish about this so if you have any blogger you would want to see for the month, just email me at yettybakbeauty@yahoo.ca or check contact me on the top part of the blog for more ways to contact me and I would sure appreciate your suggestions.

Back to the post, this month I featured  the stylish and mother of three; Esther of house of sienna, she was one of my followers and I also featured her as one of my  top ten bloggers with unique style. She is a blogger, a personal stylist and a personal shopper, Enjoy the interview.

 Please do introduce yourself?

My name is Esther Gbudje,  I am a wife and mother to two beautiful girls and 1 handsome boy, I love singing,  composing songs, blogging,  shopping lol.

What inspired you to start blogging and when did you start blogging?

Hmmmm what inspired me, actually I saw few fashion blogs and since I love dressing up, I love looking good, I said to myself I know I can do this too and some of my friends encouraged me too, I started blogging in 2013.

How did you come up with the blog name?

I always said when I start my business I would use my first child's name, and so was it. And when I wanted to start blogging the name just stuck.

Apart from blogging what else do you do?

I run a fashion business kinda like personal shopping, I sing too hopefully would be releasing a single soon

As a personal shopper how do you keep your customers satisfied and what do you look out for in every client before you start shopping?

I listen to their demands, I offer advice where necessarily and also source for things that affordable,  well I look out for serious customers lol, I ask questions so we are clear before we start any transaction and yes sometimes I do turn down some people especially if I know a customer would give me too much trouble.

Any shopping and style tips you want to share?

When shopping take an inventory of your closet, so you wont buy an item twice, don't buy on impulse, do window shopping, you can even try thrift shops too there are loads of treasures there, I have bought very lovely things from thrift shops, and also remember cut your cloth according to your size, be content too. Be your own stylist, be adventurous,  know your body type.

Define your personal style?

My personal style is edgy, classy and chic

Big bags, clutches or strap bags?

I used to love big bags not anymore, my love for crossbody bags keeps increasing day by day

 Heels, wedges, or flats?

Heels, heels, heels lol I wear flats wither when I am pregnant or doing school runs ( Pls oh its taking my daughter to school lol).

How has blogging been so far especially as a mother and wife I know it isn't easy balancing both?

Blogging has been great, love every time when I have to put something down, its not been easy though especially when so many things demands your attention,  sometimes I blog at night when my kids are asleep, I thank God for my husband, he is my number one fan, my super supporter

What do you think every lady should have in their wardrobe?

.Black Dress, White dress, Black blazer, Jeans, White Shirt, Black heels, Handbag

The most expensive item in your wardrobe?

My Blue Topshop platform shoes bought it 2 years ago for £100

Who does your lovely hairstyles and takes your pictures?

My friend does my hair her son and my daughter both attend the same school and Deltan King takes my pictures (Le Boo) lol.

 Your mantra?

 Live life to the fullest

Please do different classy and trendy in your own words?

Classy is when you dress for you, your personal style reflects how trendy you can be

Your beauty routine?

I don't really have a beauty routine, surprised? Lol

Your advice for up and coming bloggers?

Believe in yourself,  don't give up, keep blogging

I really love her lovely way of replying questions and she is officially my personal shopper lol. She is also from Nigeria, Delta to be precise. you can view her blog here to se more of her lovely styles. What do you think about her style and who would you love to be featured next? Ciao.

HOW TO DISCOVER YOUR STYLE IN A JIFFY

Being stylish is not about buying expensive clothes but it’s about knowing what fits you coupled with your personality and style identity. Just before you go shopping, it’s important to know what style personality you have or you might end up buying unsuitable pieces.  At a point I was confused about my style personality too, so not to worry just follow these simple tips and you would be surprised at how it helps.

1.    CREATE AN ALBUM FROM RIPPED PAGES OF MAGAZINES

Fashion and style magazines, catalogues, newspapers, or pictures from events are a good way to start. Just note stylish individuals that appeal to you from all this source either celebrities or random style Icons. This was really easy for me because I am an addict of fashion magazines like complete fashion, Genevieve, in style and others.

WHAT TO DO: gather up style magazines and other sources and rip out pages you find stylish individuals and their outfits. Sometimes when I watch a movie and I love one of the actor’s looks, I will use my VLC screen shot to take pictures of the outfit and with that I created an album also an my PC (you could try that too).

I took this picture from the movie 'for colored girls' because I love her gown

Also, check for everyday looks and ignore red-carpet or runway looks (most runway looks are not suitable for everyday looks they are mostly exhibited by stylist).

2.  MAKE A LIST OF PIECES AND ACCESSORIES IN YOUR WARDROBE

After making an album or a collage of ripped pages and images, compare your album with what you have in your wardrobe. It won’t be fair enough to go shopping every time because you want to dress like someone but you could make do with what you have in your wardrobe. Your wardrobe is an expression of what you like and what style personality you are, with pieces in your wardrobe it answers the question of your personality; if you are the jeans and top type, or a co-operate individual who hardly wears jeans even on weekends or one who loves and embrace the street style whatever style personality you have your wardrobe answers it with pieces you wear most. Any clothing item you hardly wear or you have never worn is not just for you so eliminate them because you might never wear them. For me my wardrobe has a good number of high waist pants and tailored skirts with few jeans and tops. My shirts and mostly made of chiffon and the only all-stars snickers I have is just a magnet for dust J

3. STICK TO YOUR DISCOVERED STYLE

Well this isn’t as easy as it sounds but come to think of it most fashionistas always have a defined fashion statement. With this you could easily define your looks and looks you won’t be caught dead in.

4.   FINALLY, CREATE A SIGNATURE LOOK

Signature looks are very essential for stylish individuals, it gives distinct and unique looks that defines you. Just as joy ofjoylovesfashion.com joylovesfashion.c always wear a turban and folake of  www.stylepantry.com  is known for her curly hairstyles, the list goes on and on. Its all about choosing what you would be known for in style and what makes you confident.

Above all, remember that one day it won’t be about the clothes you wear but also about intelligence, self confidence, posture, carriage and good brains. Dressing good wont open all doors for you but it would also give you an hedge and keep you confident in anywhere you go. Also remember trendy isn't classy. Do have a blessed week. Bye for now.

denim shirt on colour blocked heels

What's good beautiful people? How's the week going? And is anyone as excited as I am about summer sales coming soon? I hope someone is :) Denim shirts were in vogue and are still in vougue and I am definitely not a lastman on this one. I wore this outfit to work and yes you heard right work. I wanted to keep it simple on a saturday and at the same time look trendy. I would have love to wear denim shirt with denim pants but it's too everywhere on the street of lagos, Is it just me that noticed that?

I am really enjoying this retro tradition and one lovely thing I love about the demin shirt trend is it really makes me looked mature and even though I wore it with a wide feet pant I still looked taller (thanks to the heels anyways), So finally I am so glad that I rocked this trend but would you? How would you have loved to wear the denim shirts? and what do you think about my outfit? Your opinion matters guys, Do have a blessed week and remember our lord is coming soon. MARANATA!!!

EMBRACING THE SUMMER TREND

Hello beautiful people, How are you guys doing? yeah I know my post title sounds really awkward because "we no get summer for naija". But since it's almost summer and I am excited about summer sales (awoof) I just wanted to post an outfit in advance. My outfit does made me look taller, well I think it's because of the vintage shorts and the basic shirt from Zara. And thank God I found a better camera but I still decree professional camera IJN please do say amen for me lol.

Back to my outfit, I am not really a fan of shorts but when I got this vintage shorts I fell in love with it at first sight, I haven't worn a basic shirt in a while and so I did wore it with red courts from just fab and amazingly I looked taller. I might be wearing shorts often but I am just skeptical about my stretch marks,
 :( Any advice?
So what do y'all think about my outfit? You know how we do it, please do comment on the comment column and thank you all guys for your comments, you all are awesome. Do have a blessed week. Bye.

I KNOW WHO I AM

peplum gown

Hello beautiful people, been long you saw me right? yeah I know, no more excuses but trust me the absence was worth it. Back to my post, I read this lovely post from supplechic and it really inspired me. I was really sad about my self when I was younger, first I had full lips, I am shorter than my peers and I was fat. I remembered at one time I was named "opom" which means shapelessly fat in youruba- Nigeria. In fact most times I would ask my dad if my full lips would become smaller as I grow up and he would laugh and remind me how cute I was. I grew up reducing to a size 8 and my full lips were still there, and my legs have this unusaul stretch marks and my legs looks big. But the funny thing is I am so much in love with my self now, I love my lips and my legs really makes me look cute. Its doesn't really matter what people say anymore, because I know who I am. I am the apple of Gods eyes created in his likeness and image. I know who I am and I know who God says I am. I have grown to see myself as 'miss portable'. Do you know who you are? Please do share in the comments below.

Back to my outfit, I was wearing a peplum gown I got from a thrift store just like the one I wore here, I don't think I am done with peplums yet; so just stick around for more. I combined it with heels from shoe dazzle and my perspex purse. Hope you like it? Do you think peplums are still in vougue? Please do answer in the comments coloumn below. Bye and do have a blessed week.
