BLOGGERS DIARY

We know that all things God works for the good of those who love him- Romans 8:28

Hello lovelies,

 chastity of garner style

I got my lap top fixed finally; yippee!!! my brother actually got it fixed for me, I hope he forgives me because I became uneasy at some point but thank you so much bro you the best.

Just like I said in my previous post this blog is going to be a weekly blog; consistently on Mondays to be precise.  This Weekend has been hectic though, I was down with fever again but thank God for early healing I am more than grateful.  Even with that I tried sending a mail to chastity of garner style,  she was so humble I never could imagine a star blogger like that with that humility and with that I am saying a big thank you to her and I hope to feature her often.

I came across her blog via Facebook and her blog is the inspiration behind why I added the feedback user report to my blog. Curvy and beautiful chastity valentine is the first blogger to be interviewed on this blog  and that's because I haven't posted anything for curvy chics out there but there will however other blog interviews by God’s grace.

Chastity is the blogger behind the garner style blog and the writer of the curvy girls guide. She currently lives in Texas with her husband. I am really impressed with her unique style and her sense of fashion.  She also loves print just like I do, she has also been featured in several magazines and talk shows like Oprah Winfery show, Elle magazine and new York times (I definitely would get there someday lol…), below are the questions I asked her and her humble way of replying.

1.Please introduce yourself, what you do, your blog and where you live currently?

I'm Chastity Garner Valentine and I live in the San Francisco Bay area.  I am a full time fashion blogger that writes and illustrates plus size fashion with my own body.

2. What inspired you to start blogging, when and how it has been so far?

I started blogging after being on bed rest from a knee injury in 2008.  The journey has been great.  I've had so many amazing experiences, been in some of my favorite fashion publications, and have meet some amazing people all because of blogging.

3. Define your style and what makes you unique?

My style is sophisticated, unapologetic, and polished.  One aspect that makes my style different is the sheer fact that blogging is generally thought of as place for a younger girl.  I started blogging at 28 and now I'm 33 so my take on style is different than a younger girl and it continues to grow, develop, and mature as I get older.

4.What's the most expensive item in your wardrobe and how much is it?

I usually cap out at about $500 for my splurge items, so I'm going to say my Tom Ford sunnies that I just purchased.

5. Where do you  shop and who is your best clothe designer?

At this point in my life, I really don't have a particular place I shop.  I literally all over the place. I shop plus and reg. sizes. I guess you would say I frequent Asos' regular sizes most. My favorite clothes designer is JIBRI.

6. Do you have any obsessive compulsive dress... (O.C.D)? What clothe is it and how many pair do you have?

No I am not obsessed with any clothe.

7. Heels, flats or wedges?

Reality is flats because of my knee, but in my head my I have feet that never hurt it would be heels.

8. How did you develop your love for fashion and as an image consultant any challenges so far?

I always loved fashion, but for so long it was readily available to me in my size. I really began to dive into it when I modeled for JIBRI while I was in grad school.  That was when I truly bitten, because it was the first time there were actually fashion forward clothing for a girl my size.

9.Any fashion faux pax?

I've learned not to discount anything in fashion.  You will swear up and down you wouldn't be caught dead in something and then you are in it and it's fabulous.

10. How do you relax?

Wine...LOL.

11. Beauty routines and your best hairstyle?

Anyone who reads my blog know that I love a bun.  Big, small or whatever, it
doesn't matter.  As far as beauty, I like to deep condition my hair once a week with a concoction of conditioner, honey, coconut oil, olive oil, and an egg.  I'm also very much into my skin care.  I want to look soft and supple for as long as I can.  LOL!

12.Who takes your blog pictures and who does your lovely hairstyles?

My husband takes my pictures and I do my own hair.

13. I know you are married anything lovely you want to share about your husband?
He is absolutely most amazing person I know. I love how he views the world and people. It's like most of the pre-judgment that plague our society doesn't exist in his brain.  He challenges me to be a better person every day.

14. Your best fashion blog/blogger, shoe designer?

I probably dig the Man Repeller most of all.  I like the idea of not dressing for men.  It's so liberating.  My favorite shoe designer is Valentino.

15. Your book 'the curvy girl guide', what is it about and how can it help the curvy girls out there?
I did that book in 2010 and so much has changed since then, but I say that the books gives plus size women a great place to start in term of developing their own personal style.

16.Any advice for the curvy chic and upcoming curvy bloggers?

An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up- proverbs 12:25

Hello beautiful people,

My first week in the blogging industry was not that palatable. The thoughts of seeing "No comments" can really be discouraging. But when I was about giving up, I read a post on cannneverbeaskinnybish blog. It was about blogging tips; I really can't remember the exact title though, but it changed my whole perspective about blogging.

I really do love brenda's style and her humble way of answering comments really caught my attention. And that lovely blog name really got me thinking "what was really behind the name". Brenda was my first follower on GFC and I would be ungrateful if I don't give my role model the interview she deserves. Here is Brenda's blog diary and this is also to celebrate my blogversary. Enjoy the interview.

1. please introduce yourself.

My name is Brenda C and I am a Gabon-born Cameroonian residing in Toronto. I love Ankara, color and my curves, and have lots of fun dressing myself (and other people) up.

2. Define your style?

My style is summed up as: print-meets-curves-meets-color, if that makes sense, haha.

3. How did you come up with your blog name and how has blogging been so far?

I honestly cannot say for certain how the blog name came up but I know it has to do with one of those days when I wasn't happy with my weight and was just thinking about the hardships I face in regards to my self-esteem and losing weight and I probably thought to myself, "Damn, why can't I be skinny?" lol.
Blogging has been good overall but I need to push myself more. I do find that my blog and Facebook page aren't as interactive as they used to be before I moved to Wordpress but it's all good.

4. Your style influence(s)?

For the most part, my style influences are fellow bloggers I see everywhere and then a few celebrities like Solange Knowles, Zendaya and more.

5. Any fashion faux pas?

I have had many faux pas that others may not consider to be faux pas. I think the most recent may have been when I stepped out of the house in a cute but short skirt, only for a strong wind to blow my skirt up while I was crossing the road!

6. You moved your blog from blogspot to a custom website and now you are back o blogspot, any reason for that?

Haha, the main reason for the move was for me to have my custom domain! I would have just stayed with Blogspot if my web designer was very comfortable and familiar with it. I wanted to move back to Blogger but couldn't get rid of the Wordpress one just like that so I created a blog extension. I personally prefer Blogspot though.

7. Where do you shop?

I do shop everywhere, mostly online though as I hate malls. I love Asos, Ankara sites, Virgos lounge, Andrea Iyamah, Miss Beida Fashions and H&M a lot.

8. Flats, heels or wedges?

Heels please!!

                                 nude bag and shoes

              fur on pants

9. You won't be caught dead in?

I would like to think I won't be caught dead in booty shorts and boots...looks pretty awful on me.

10. Oldest and most expensive item in your wardrobe?

Oldest item would be an ankara piece I came to Canada with from Cameroon. Most expensive is definitely my hand-crafted Virgos lounge metallic skirt~

11. Label freak or anything goes?

Anything really goes. Some of the nicest things I own have come from less known labels from Winners and thrift shops.

12. Your role model in the blogging industry?

It's hard to pick 1 role model because i look to lots of bloggers for different things. I must say: Stella from J'adore Fashion, Shirley from Shirley's wardrobe, Ashleigh from The Daleigh, Lydia from Artbecomesyou and Nika from Fashion Agony are some of my favorites!

13. Differentiate between style and fashion in your own words?

Style is what you make of Fashion! (I just came up with that, haha). Style is personal and you. Fashion is international.

14. Shoes, Bags or Clothe lover?

Hmm, clothes actually! I am not that into bags but shoes come second!

15. Who does your lovely hairstyle and who takes your pictures?

Thanks for the compliment! My current curly hairstyles have been done by my good friend and they're all crochet braids.I take 95% of my pictures myself using a tripod and remote control!

16. Your mantra?

Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out.

17. Advice for up and coming bloggers?

Network, network, put yourself out there. Be available on all major social media platforms. Take clear photos, practice posing, take care of your skin and Have fun!!!

I really love her lovely ways of answering questions and she is just too stylish. I featured her here as one of my top ten bloggers. Want to see more of Brenda? Please do check her lovely blog here and her website here. What do you think of her style? and which of her pictures do you like most? Whose blog diary would you want to see on the blog?
